Immigrant Services –

Multicultural Family Place and Recreational Evenings

four little girls

This program supports social and physical health in the lives of immigrant families. Young children and their parents are encouraged to interact and play creatively, using the paint centre, dress up centre, and games centre. Recreation activities for all ages are available in the gym. These ranged from climbing toys to board games to table tennis to badminton to floor hockey. Refreshments and healthy snacks are provided.

Guest speakers from community organizations provide families with information about various child development and health issues (dental care, bedtime, importance of reading to your child, nutrition etc.) Guest speakers and participants also discuss and share information and ideas about culturally appropriate behaviour and parenting styles.

This program is a partnership between CR Multicultural and Immigrant Services Association (CRMISA), CR Parks and Recreation and Family Place and support from the Ministry of Housing and Social Planning Direct Access funding.
